I have an unwavering faith in a personal God, however it is somewhat unconventional as well. I believe in God as Father, Son (Jesus, The Word become flesh) and Holy Spirit; however I have no religion. Jesus said that the only true religion is how you treat widows and orphans! I believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I believe it was never meant to be spread as just another religion! Ask yourself this question, “Why would God have to put on human flesh, live like us and among us and suffer an undeserved, horrific death just to start another religion?” That would make no sense and would be unnecessary!
I consider myself a “Christian”, which simply means I consider myself a humble follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus made the most exclusive claim, to be God in the flesh, and yet His message is the most inclusive:
John 3:16 New Living Translation (NLT)
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
In His day, Jesus was the most subversive person alive; He angered the religious more than unbelievers. He hasn’t changed! The “Church” that Jesus built is His Bride, a group of faithful, loving, self-sacrificing followers that live by faith and with Jesus as our example and our Lord! The Church is not a building, institution, organization or group of religious people. I believe that when people actively follow Jesus it’s not just about sitting in a building listening to preachers tell messages about how God loves them. The Church (the Bride of Christ) are followers of Jesus who are actively loving everyone God puts in their path in a way that the world (devoid the wisdom and love of God) cannot ever possibly accomplish without the power and prompting of the Holy Spirit!
Here is the Biblical definition of love:
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
What good is it to know what love is if you aren’t actively living its powerful Truth!
I believe that organized religion is the “anti-Christ” and that when most people reject “God” they are really rejecting the choking hell of the religious demands that its supporters force upon them.
Luke 11:46 New Living Translation (NLT)
46 “Yes,” said Jesus, “what sorrow also awaits you experts in religious law! For you crush people with unbearable religious demands, and you never lift a finger to ease the burden.”
I also believe that the most important and powerful thing that a person can be is HUMBLE! Humility is what humans need to clothe ourselves in in order to see Truth, love God and love anyone else for that matter.
The Beatitudes (Matthew 5)
3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,[a]
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,[b]
for they will be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”
I also believe the reason for most of the pain in this world comes from people who claim God but serve a different master, money! This is why Jesus warned that you cannot serve two masters:
Matthew 6:24 New Living Translation (NLT)
24 “No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.”
What is seriously lacking in the modern day “Christian” is a faith that truly heeds God’s call not to hoard their money but to constantly give it away to help others! As long as we have preachers and parishioners that live lavishly while others suffer than you know that their “faith” is a facade! Jesus also warned this:
Matthew 7:21-23 New Living Translation (NLT)
21 “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22 On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23 But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’
Love is the law of the New Covenant! It is the Higher law and much more imposing than just a set of rules!
The religious have a “Landlord/Tenant” relationship with God; constantly having “to do” to earn their way to Heaven. But true followers of Jesus possess a “Parent/Child” relationship with God; Whose requirement is to “abide” in Him, to love God with all our body, mind and heart and love our neighbors (everyone we ever meet) as ourselves!
I truly believe that if those who claim Jesus would live in His Kingdom perspective (bringing Heaven to earth) …well, as the song goes, “what a wonderful world this would be.”
Choose love, coz love chose you! ❤️🙏
